Coal-Grinder

December 2019

During my working period in Leipzig I noticed that you could buy lignite bricks. People use them for heating there houses and factories burn them to produce energy. There are super huge machines digging/scraping the surface away till they reach the lignite. This can be around 30 to 40 meters deep if you are lucky. Then it is time to collect the lignite. For harvesting another big machine is used. This machine has a big weel with giant shovelsattached to it. These shovels scrapes the coal on to a convayer wich directly transport the Lignite to the factory. In the factory they compress the lignitepowder into the brickform. Ready for transport to the shops where you are able to buy them. I think this way of creating energy is not so clean, therefore I try to reverse the entire productionprocess. The coal-grinder is the first step. It can make powder again from the lignitebricks that I bought in the shop. The coal-pitcher is the second step, transporting the coalpowder back to the mine. I hope by doing this we can undo the damage and ‘/Mother Nature’ will forget about this.
