During the final exhibition, the use of three machines was demonstrated. Over the last years, an investigation into force has been taking place, and the results can be seen in this installation. The trio of machines share a function, which is the emptying of cans of paint. Each of these devices does so in a different way. The “blikkenleger” does so by means of a projectile which is fired towards the back of the can, which is placed in the barrel of the device. The “Slagter” does the exact opposite; it moves the can itself, smashing it into a solid piece of the construction. The form of this machine is based on a smaller part of the “Blikkenleger”, enlarged by a factor of six. Last of the machines is named “Perskar”. This little cart has a very scientific origin. Fluids don’t allow for compression, but what happens when you compress them anyway?
